What’s a good planner for night owls / Second Mice?
Wellp, let me tell you! I’ve had my fair share of planners over the years. I, of course, am going to suggest the planner pages of my own creation. HOWEVER, I have some excellent other options in this list too! These are the top 4 (my lucky number) planners that I’ve enjoyed using the most and would definitely use again.
1. The Second Mouse
Look, we all saw it coming. I even warned you, and here we are. Of course I’d recommend The Second Mouse planning pages as my number one. I’ve designed them specifically to appease myself. However, I do have some points to make. Mostly being that these planner pages can be assembled exactly how you envisioned and puts creativity and productivity above just mindlessly checking things off a list. We should be cultivating our individuality and that’s what The Second Mouse plans to do!
Pros – Different designs that focus on different activities or hobbies, times specific for late risers, cute and bubbly, super cheap, able to assemble and use however you see fit, pages can be printed out based on necessity
Cons – Not a physical planner
2. Aggendio
This is one of my FAVORITE planners I have ever had the pleasure of using. Custom times? Yes please. Habit tracker? Don’t mind if I do. CUSTOM LAYOUTS? HOW CAN YOU SAY NO? Seriously. I had such a fun time sitting down and creating my perfect, custom layout. Being left handed, I really enjoyed that I could put the sections I use first on the right so that my hand doesn’t scribble over any writing on the left hand side. I was able to add daily, monthly, and weekly layouts to fullfill all my planning dreams. I really didn’t know what I was missing in my life until I got this planner. The colors and fonts right down to even which day of the week should be the “first” day (my fellow planning sticklers know exactly what I’m talking about in the age old debate of should Saturday, Sunday or Monday be the first day of the week) is all customizable. Even if you don’t want *every* thing customized, they have preplanned layouts that you can use and just adjust sections as needed.
Pros – Nearly everything is customizable, able to tailor it exactly to what I needed, ability to add in your own custom times (no 6 am shenanigans for me)
Cons – Takes a bit of time to customize everything, a bit on the expensive side (paid ~$90-$100). In the grand scheme of things, I think it was 100% worth it for a full year of just flawless planning with no stress.
3. TF Publishing Planner
Ok, so this one was the best planner that wasn’t custom made. It does a really good job at doing exactly what I need it to do! The long checklist made it really easy to just jot down things to do as I went about my day. The meals section is super useful for those of us who really like to plan weeks out in advance, the size of the planner itself is perfect, where as the Agendio planner was more bulky (probably due to the fact that I just *had* to have the month, week, and daily layouts). This one is my personal favorite TF Pubishing Planner
Pros – Water intake & wellness section, meals & gratitude section in certain planners (In the Dailey Luxe Planners)
Cons – Does not include the time slots to schedule the day, can get a bit messy since it’s just a checklist style or weekly planner (definitely recommend taking the time to color code)
4. Day Designer
Just the sheer ELEGANCE of Day Designer sells it for me. These planners are just CRUSHING the design game for me. I love the inclusion of the prompts at the beginning to promote a healthy and fulfilling way of living. Really, these planners are so incredibly beautiful, but I just can’t get behind the week starting on Monday for the monthly layouts. There’s just something extremely bothersome about Saturday and Sunday being right next to each other for me. Even on the daily pages, it drives me crazy when Saturday and Sunday share a page. I’m arguably trying to get MORE stuff done on the weekend than during the week, so no, I’d like that whole page back please and thank you. Otherwise than my nitpicky-ness, these planners are so beautiful and I loved using it!
Pros – The beautiful design, the valuable life prompts, daily pages have checklists *and* time schedule, there’s a small weekly calendar at the end of each week also which is nice
Cons – Weeks start on Monday, Saturday and Sunday share a page, times start way too early (5 AM? That’s a no from me lol)
