Covington, Georgia Day Trip
Welcome to Covington, Georgia, the charming town that served as the backdrop for the hit TV show, Vampire Diaries. For fans of the show, a day trip to Covington is a must-do experience. From Mystic Falls tours to exploring the town’s historic square, you’ll feel like you’re walking in the footsteps of your favorite characters. So, grab your daylight ring and get ready for a day filled with all things Vampire Diaries in Covington, Georgia! Here’s what I, a fellow Vampire Diaries fan, did on a day trip to Covington!
Morning:
Start your day with a stroll around the Covington square and admire the beautiful historic buildings, including the courthouse and the clock tower. You may recognize some of these buildings from the show! If you park at the Welcome Center, you may be able to catch
the Farmer’s Market thing early mornings during some parts of the year! I grabbed some fresh baked bread and pastries and was absolutely not disappointed.
This area also has a tribute to all the films and movies that were filmed in Covington! There’s more than just
Vampire Diaries, although, I’m absolutely obsessed with Vampire Diaries (Damon stan forever) so that’s why I came here! Stop in the Welcome Center to view some Vampire Diaries props!
Midday:
Next, head to the Vampire Stalkers/Mystic Falls Tours gift shop to pick up a map of all the Vampire Diaries locations around town. You can also book a tour with a guide who will take you to all the must-see spots. This tour was WELL worth it. They have access to behind the scenes places and if you catch them on a REALLY good day, then you may catch a glimpse of one of the actors!
One of the most iconic locations from the show is the Lockwood Mansion. You can take a tour of the mansion and see where Tyler Lockwood threw all those parties and where Klaus and Elijah lived if you hop on the Vampire Stalkers tour!
Afternoon:
In the afternoon, head to the town square to see the Mystic Falls clock tower and snap a few photos. You can also visit the Mystic Falls Tours store and pick up some souvenirs to remember your trip by. I absolutely grabbed a Salvatore jersey as a keepsake! Have to rep the boys! After some Vampire Diaries shopping, head to grab some delicious Ice Cream from Scoops and walk around visiting all the sites including the storefront used for the Gilbert’s doctors practice, as well as all the stars for the Vampire Diaries actors.
Don’t forget to do a little shopping! Covington is well known for Vampire Diaries and nearly every shop in town knows it. Stop in to all the unique stores and grab a blood bag drink or some Vampire Diaries themed candles and soaps! While these following recommendations aren’t technically Vampire Diaries related, it’s definitely worth it. Stop by the oil & vinegar store! It’s so good, and I highly recommend the spicy green chili oil.
Evening:
As the sun sets, head to the Mystic Grill for dinner and drinks, the famous restaurant in the show where the
characters often hang out. The Mystic Grill has a great selection of cocktails, and you can sit outside and watch the world go by on the Covington square. Grab a glass of brothers bond bourbon, yes created by THE Paul Wesley and Ian Somerhalder.
There you have it – a day trip itinerary for Vampire Diaries fans in Covington, Georgia. Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just looking for a fun and unique day trip, Covington is the perfect destination.
